Dear release managers, the tar package in squeeze currently suffers from a very annoying bug that prevents using tar to create backups on another machine, see:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=587702 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=597672 This bug has been fixed in the latest version of tar that is currently in sid: http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/t/tar/current/changelog and that has been uploaded with priority "medium" for this reason. According to http://packages.qa.debian.org/t/tar.html only the freeze prevents tar from being updated in squeeze. So could you please grant a freeze exception for this package ? -- Laurent Bonnaud. http://www.lis.inpg.fr/pages_perso/bonnaud/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
