Hi, I have been working to enable ppc64el architecture in Debian, and I would like to have it as part of the Jessie release.
Currently, the distro build is still missing some important things that we are working at the moment, as sending the patches for the packages. a) We have an archive that contains a big archive with around 8k arch-dependent source packages built. https://wiki.debian.org/ppc64el#Binary_Packages b) We have also a buildd building all the upstream source codes, and many of them are still failing because of the config.guess/sub patches missing. (more than 100 bugs with patches are still open). https://wiki.debian.org/ppc64el#buildd c) We already have a machine with Debian/ppc64el OS available for Debian usage, just ask an account on the following link: https://wiki.debian.org/ppc64el#Development_machines d) Most of the applications already has patch for this port, meaning that most of the remaining work is to get those accepted by the maintainers. e) We are working to provide a machine to the DSA. At the moment, we just have pre-GA machines available, so, we will propose lending a pre-GA machine to the DSA, and, as soon as we have the GA machines (Power8) we can work to donate those to the DSA. That said, I would like to here from you, what should be the next steps to have this port as part of jessie. Also, I am planning to add ppc64el in the Jessie Qualification page at https://wiki.debian.org/ArchiveQualification/Jessie. Any concerns?
