"Simple backports from upstream" is not equivalent to "suitable for an update to a package in stable", particularly when there's a non-trivial diff involved.
In addition I have been using this version on production with thousands of users. I'm also waiting for this validation in order to submit a new one with more stable fixes.
And then another and another and... ? My concern here is that we end up with a continual stream of requests for updates, each with many fixes in. I'm not sure how sustainable that is; ommv, of course.
