Hi, A quick release update (compared to last week)[1][2].
The executive summary: "We are not fixing RC bugs fast enough to keep
the RT busy - please fix RC bugs faster. Thanks!"
The long version:
* 2 out of 3 known blockers (puppet and libc-bin) got fixed in unstable
- puppet is unblocked
- libc-bin has a fix, but it introduces a (minor) build regression
under "stage2" builds (#780431).
* The last known blocker (libjpeg-turbo-progs migration) had a fix but
it proved insufficient. The maintainer and RT is looking into a
more reliable solution.
* About *25% of all Jessie RC bugs are unblocked by the release team*!
- 28.9% if you include items unblocked but needing a d-i ack.
- I will be aging a part of these. Over the weekend, you may see a
rapid decline in the RC bugs affecting Jessie.
* Ignoring 2 packages, there are *no more RC bug fixes pending RT*
unblocks[3]. If you want to release sooner, please fix more RC
bugs at a higher rate! :)
- The two packages are glibc (see above) and cgmanager, where we are
in touch with the maintainer about getting a t-p-u upload.
- There are some unblock requests left in our qeueue, which are not
(or no longer?) involving RC bugs.
* We can do with more upgrade tests and upgrade reports! Don't be shy
to file one just because it says: Debian upgrades "just work(tm)"!
Attached is a dd-list of packages with RC bugs affecting *both unstable
and Jessie*.
* If your name/team is on the list, please fix your (team's) package(s)
- If you don't know how to fix it/need more info and/or cannot
reproduce it, then tag it "help", "moreinfo" and/or
"unreproducible".
- If you do not think it is RC in general for your package, then
downgrade it
- If you think it is RC for stretch, but not a problem for Jessie,
then request a "jessie-ignore" tag. NB: We are still willing to
accept bug fixes for "jessie-ignore'd" problems.
* If you see a friend's package on the list, please consider helping
them out.
* Otherwise, go help the grub2 maintainers, they can still use some
help triaging bugs!
When you are done with that, please consider reviewing the release notes
or picking a random RC buggy package to NMU.
