Dear Ruby list,

My message has been triggered by Bug#714777, saying that two packages
are conflicting because they both install
/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/generators/rails/templates/controller.rb
(ruby-jbuilder and ruby-strong-parameters).

Three packages install generators for rails in
/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/generators/rails. Others use
/usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/rails/generators/. Since I am not very much familiar
with Rails, I was wondering:
* does it need to be unified? If yes, with which convention?
* what would be the best approach to deal with these conflicts. The
* files mentionned in the bug are similar but have significant
   differences...

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I'm not certain that this will be helpful, but FYI:

* Rails 4 was released last week

* Rails 4 incorporates or includes both of the above packages (jbuilder and strong parameters)

* To date, I've utterly failed to get a version of Rails 3.2 working with Rack 1.5. After some initial success, getting the rest of the way there has been like pulling on a string, and I have yet to find a relatively minimal patch.

* I can confirm that both jbuilder and strong_parameters modify the controller template in quite different ways.
