You should encourage upstream to maintain a AUTHORS file with major contributors. Having one or two tiny patches is not enough to really get copyright, but important contributions should be tracked upstream and then in debian/copyright. In the meanwhile maybe you can get the (probably short) list of people with a high changelog appearance count added to the copyright file. Regards. -- Marc Dequènes (Duck)
