В этой версии синаптика они поломали хал и полностью перешли на xorg.conf.d.
Приведу свой конфиг /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf

Попробуй создать что-то похожее и закомментировать все настройки в xorg.conf
Заранее предупреждаю, что иксы могут просто не запуститься, если в .conf-файле
будет ошибка.
