Sure!
I think what you are saying totally makes sense, but it would be good to
properly keep track of it as a reminder for the TODO list.
We will be starting with petsc 3.22 in a few weeks, so that may be a good
time to have a try in adding --with-64-bit-blas-indices.
We would have to double check if that requires us to change something in the
blas-related package as well, or if the change is limited to petsc only.
You do need to link against the 64 flavour of scalapack/lapack/blas, but
they are all available in debian. Possibly some other optional libs might
also need to be switched to the version using 64 bit integer indices, or not
included. I do not know precisely because I do not need any of these in my
custom version of slepc/petsc, hence I simply omit all non essential
options.
