I'm trying out a dual quad-core Xeon EM64T machine in parallel with MPI (etch). I ran into problems... I can run 5 processors, but not 6,7,8. The machine slows down considerably. LAM-MPI and MPICH show exactly the same behavior. Has anyone had similar problems when running MPI on a SMP multi-core machine? Any solutions?
