It was me who wrote this wiki, as I thought that the DebianScientificComputingTeam was the only scientific team in Debian. Now that I learned that there are two, I think the purpose of Debian Science team could be to cover sort of everything, as you have said, while DebianScientificComputingTeam could cover high performance computing + visualization?
