Hi Dirk, I understand your frustration. The Debian Med SVN contains some packages for which I have discovered PDFs with no source, and for which I lost motivation to do repackaging. I really think that we should be able to build main, contrib and non-free packages from the same source, and I wonder if the opposition we read on -devel is only the one of an active minority. I the meantime, how about uploading the whole GSL to non-free? It is autobuilt (if you get the approval of the release.debian.net team), and I even think that the BTS is smart enough to handle such a change smoothly. The two biggest drawbacks would be that packages depending on GSL would have to be re-uploaded in contrib, and users without internet access have difficulties to access non-free and contrib packages.
