I think that they fit in with the other things in that task.

I agree that typesetting is too specific for what it currently contains.
As I see it, at the moment the task currently contains packages useful
for writing a scientific paper / poster and perhaps a talk. 

These can be roughly broken down into:

Bibliography management

Editors suitable for writing papers (eg support for Latex)
Wordprocessor
DTP (eg for posters )

Tools for producing figures - vector drawing, but also latex tools -
metapost for example, and specialist packages for drawing feynman
diagrams[1].

Packages for presentations/slideshows (latex and openoffice).

Along with supporting packages to view documents (xpdf, gv).

I think that packages to annotate pdfs, as well as packages to create
a bibliography from a pdf would fit together with these.
