I don't use aptitude(*), and apt-listchanges only shows you the changes AFTER you say Y to start the upgrade...doesn't give you the option to change your mind after you've read the changes. i do routinely use 'apt-cache show' to examine the details of various packages, including the Description. (*) i'm probably one of the last remaining dselect users, and i rarely ever run that any more. aptitude is a huge improvement over dselect but there's just way too many packages to wade through in either dselect or aptitude. when building a new debian box, i tend to just install the base system and 'apt-get install' the packages i need, or use 'dpkg --get-selections "*"' and 'dpkg --set-selections' to clone the list of packages to install from one system to another. craig -- craig sanders <[email protected]> -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
