I tried to stretch this a bit further and wanted to grasp to natbib style which prints more data (like URL and DOI) for instance. Unfortunately this style is currently stumbling about four longish author fields. However, IMHO this problem is caused by some broken natbib style which behaves *differently* than it is described here: http://merkel.zoneo.net/Latex/natbib.php According to this the commands \cite, \citep and \citet should use *shortcuts* of the authors field and only the stared versions \cite*, \citep* and \citet* use all authors. In contrast to this documentation I would like you to have a look at the files I dropped at http://blends.debian.net/packages-metadata/bibtex_help_needed Please try to run it through pdflatex adebian; bibtex adebian; pdflatex adebian.tex ; pdflatex adebian.tex and try to find out why the marker in the text is not abbreviated. I bet if we would get this working the overlongish author fields are no problem any more.
