This has changed now (as I also realised to late ;-))

While I could use the orig.tar.gz from `apt-get source yorick` I would
like to mention that the Git archive is lacking an upstream branch. So

$ git-buildpackage
...
make[1]: Leaving directory
`/home/tillea/debian-maintain/alioth/debian-science/git/packages/yorick'
dh_clean
gbp:info: Orig tarball 'yorick_2.2.02+dfsg.orig.tar.gz' not found at
'../tarballs/'
gbp:warn: Pristine-tar branch "pristine-tar" not found
fatal: Path 'yorick_2.2.02+dfsg.orig.tar.gz.delta' does not exist in
'refs/remotes/origin/pristine-tar'
pristine-tar: git show
refs/remotes/origin/pristine-tar:yorick_2.2.02+dfsg.orig.tar.gz.delta failed
gbp:error: Couldn't checkout "yorick_2.2.02+dfsg.orig.tar.gz":
/usr/bin/pristine-tar returned 128

fails. I think it is described in Debian Science policy (if not you
might be safe to dig for a step by step explanation in Debian Med policy
which you can easily find with these keywords in a web search).

Kind regards

        Andreas.
