On a related note, the "quadrule" upstream author has a pretty large collection of mathematical software[1], in many languages. Quadrule alone has a C, C++, Fortran77, Fortran90, Mathematica, and Matlab version (of which only the C version is currently packaged). There's hundreds of programs available, and the software is all licensed under the LGPL. There could be some good candidates in there for the "mathematics" task, if anyone was interested enough to start an ITP.
