Simply a different (if related in spirit and scope) spec -- R itself has rather stringent checks in 'R CMD check ...' which, not unlike lintian, change and tighten over time. [ And unfortunately for sub-aspects of Description to say the opposite with respect to full sentences. ] I am one of the folks behind a new R list 'r-package-devel' to discuss and help on the CRAN side of these things. For cran2deb (in its day) and Don's excellent successor at http://debian-r.debian.net that is not an issue as those 7000+ thousand package stay off the main Debian repo. For packages you now upload to Debian, fixes have of course to be made. And lintian helps you. Dirk -- http://dirk.eddelbuettel.com | @eddelbuettel | [email protected]
