Basically at this point I think Debian's strict policy feels like a double-blade sword. It is good as long as we want to make elegant offline builds and ensure reproducibility. It is increasing work when the upstream goes in the opposite direction, while Debian is seemingly the only distribution that has restrictions on network access during the build. Best wishes!
