I am Stefan and I would like to join the pkg-security team on salsa. I
am currently working on packaging gallia [1,4] for debian. I have
initially put it into the python packaging team [2]. However, it was
suggested that pkg-security might be a good/better fit [3]. In my
opinion, that's indeed a better fit!
I would be happy if I could join the team and start contributing! :)
sorry for the long silence. This is good to hear. Judging from the
project description the package indeed seems to fit well into the scope
of the team.
Unfortunately I cannot help with transferring the repository to the
pkg-security-team namespace since I do not have the necessary
permissions. My suggestion is to proceed in the following way:
1. Request project transfer by opening an issue on
https://salsa.debian.org/salsa/support.
2. Once the project is transferred I (or some other team member) can
grant you access to your project for a limited period of time (something
like a year or two). Just ask on the list again, if expiry is imminent.
The expiry date serves two purposes:
a) It reminds us to evaluate the situation. If a person has made nice
contributions for some time and the person has corresponding ambitions,
it might be time to think about a DM or DD application.
b) If the person loses interest in contributing after some time,
permissions are automatically revoked after the expiry date has passed.
3. Contributions to other team-maintained packages are of course also
welcome. The usual procedure for newcomers is to start with merge
requests (cf. [0]).
Best regards
Peter
