Will 2.4.20 Source be patched for the latest kernel local root vulnerability?
On SuSE-SecurityRomanDrahtmllerhas posted a workaround which may help as long as there is no patch (haven't try this one on my own).
########################################################### Aneasyworkaroundagainstthebrk()issue:Settheaddress space limitto anothervaluethannothing,evenaveryhigh value.
Addtheline
ulimit-v2147483647
asthesecondlinesof/etc/init.d/rcand/etc/profile, executethe commanditselfinyourshellandthenrestart alldaemonsthatallow logins(xdm,sshd,inetd/xinetd,...). Alternatively,simplyreboot after addingthelines. (CourtesyofSolarDesigner)
Thanksforsummarizing.
