This has been discussed in depth fairly recently on debian-devel. http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2012/04/msg00719.html The short answer, from my recollection of that thread, was that if we ever do switch from exim, it'll be to a dummy mta like ssmtp, nullmailer, or similar. Not to another full-featured mta like postfix. noah
