The first usable version of my "DocBook Makefile Templates" - adapted from and strongly relying on the FreeBSD original Makefiles - is available: http://www.miwie.org/docbkmake/ IMO this Makefiles are usable for new documentation projects, existing documentation projects should better use their existing toolchain.
