Even that isn't necessarily true any more; see http://fourthought.com/4Suite/4XSLT for an XSL implementation in Python. (The same site also has implementations of a CORBA-ized DOM and XPath, and will in the future have implementations of ODMG [whatever that is ;-)] and extended linking.)
