Just tried sparc64 on my Ultra 5. The initial boot is successful but then it hangs with: VFS: Cannot open root device "hda1 or unknown-block(0,0) Please append a correct "root=" boot option Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) Kernel 2.4.27 works fine with same silo.conf root=/dev/hda1 parameter Some googling showed this thread http://kerneltrap.org/node/970?PHPSESSID=4a8124f9c01a609470d7f352429b97b2 and a suggested fix "you must "INCLUDE IDE/ATA disk Support" compile in your kernel and not as module..." seemed to work there. I don't know much about kernel stuff, I hope this makes sense to someone. Back to my previous kernel for now. Peter -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
