ok I installed debian from the latest disks and a CD burned yesterday. Someone said to me that my IPC shopuld support sound through its built-in speaker (which it does have and it beeps during the "sound test" on startup) but if I... cat /etc/passwd > /dev/audio (or /dev/dsp) I get "Operation not supported by device"...the person who told me about sound support said they did that and it makes noise when they do it... do I need any special packages or anything for sound? I configd the kernel sources for a recompile...no sound options in there either... any ideas? -Steve
