Sorry, late message - just noticed this one rescanning the mailing list.

This seems to be a problem with bash on sparc.  Certainly, on my SS2, ^Z
doesn't work in bash.  It suspends the forground process, but doesn't
reassert control itself.

zsh, by contrast, handles it fine.
