I do mean bus error, yes. If it's a sparc-specific bug, the maintainer probably won't be able to help much. I got as far as strac'ing it, and it's just after it attempts to connect to '/var/run/.nscd_socket'. Don't have time to track it down properly just now. gdb appears to be saying that the bus error happens in libc6.
