It is a little trickier than that because you need *two* floppies. Check the debian-sparc archives for my comments on doing this with a zip disk, the approach would be the same with any scsi disk that works at all with the boot prom you're using (basically, dd the boot disk, dd skip=offset the ramdisk, then boot it and use the "linux sd(...)[offset...]" syntax.)
