I have the machine running great and now I am about to tackle getting X installed. I downloaded all the packages I needed (I think) and I can get X started (as root). I can also run "twm". When I attempt to run afterstep it fails.
I receive a message that says: PexExtensionInit: Couldn't open default PEX font file Roman_M I have the following installed: $ ls -l /usr/lib/X11/fonts/ total 35 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 5120 May 12 16:27 100dpi drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 6144 May 13 09:19 100dpi-il2 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 5120 May 12 16:27 75dpi drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 6144 May 13 09:19 75dpi-il2 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 May 13 09:19 PEX drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 May 12 16:27 Speedo drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 May 12 16:27 Type1 drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 5120 May 13 09:25 Xg drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 2048 May 13 09:25 freefont drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 2048 May 12 16:27 misc drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 May 13 09:19 misc-il2 $ ls -l /usr/lib/X11/fonts/PEX/ total 30 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13616 Feb 23 03:00 Roman.phont -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13616 Feb 23 03:00 Roman_M.phont Is this a permissions thing? I haven't been able to figure it out. On a side note, X won't start at all for non-root users, it gives "no screens found". I researched this problem and found that it might be permissions so I gave write permissions on /dev/kbd,/dev/fb0,/dev/mouse, and /dev/sunmouse but X still fails. Can anyone help? TIA. -Ian ______________________________________________________________________ Ian K. Setford PGP 2.6.3 1024/79D33BED 1999/05/10 Ian K.
