I had the exact problem and error messages. See my two posts above ""CDROM Problems Sun CD+ CDU-561(& others?)512 vrs 2048 bytes"". For me just turning the external power switch on the CDROM off then on reset the mode.
The solution offered by Christophe PLASSCHAERT was to add this to the SILO prompt: SILO: linux max_scsi_luns=1 This does not work for me, gave me more error messages than normal, but off/on still worked! For what it's worth. Regards Peter Myers
