I just acquired a SparcStation 2 which needs a new NVRAM chip. Would a bad chip interfere with the computer booting from a floppy? I prepared a boot floppy (for Sparc) from an Intel based machine and it displays the following message on the screen:
boot: Uncompressing image... IDPROM: Unknown format type!
