well ... finally i compiled a new kernel (2.2.16) ommiting the 3com and a few other drivers that were causing me problems
now my system is working ok and i haven't see it trashing again > You cannot use a 32bit compiler to create a 64bit kernel. i was sure it wasn't a good idea =) thanks a lot to everyone on the list .... esteban
