I've got both, at this point, and it's still hanging after the line (II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Configured Mouse" (type: MOUSE) What's interesting is when I switch to tty7 from any of the text console terminals, I get about a second of what looks like out of sync color, and then the screen goes black. It almost looks like I'm trying to drive the monitor too high, but I've got my DefaultDepth at 8 and only the "640x480" resolution is listed. Thanks for any more help you can provide, Christopher
