As I said, that isn't really a problem anymore. The problem was that busybox init thought that it was supposed to be pid 1, since it was not compiled with knowledge of initrd. That was fixed. I had the hang at whiptail aswell, but it continued sometime after. If it hangs for you, and you can hit ^C, and get out of it, then this isn't the same problem.
