Someone replied. (My mailer doesn't identify the sender; sorry.) ?> echo "exec /usr/bin/xpdf -fullscreen" > ~/.xinitrc OK. .xinitrc now contains only this line. exec /usr/bin/xpdf -fullscreen ?> startx X starts and then immediately quits with this message.
