Thank you for the quick response. I got similar errors to the original post when trying to modprobe the audio module. When I went to attach the output from my lsmod, I noticed I had soundcore in there. I must have not have unchecked the modules in the config. Once I rmmod's the soundcore & loaded audio & cs4231, it lit right up.
