Problem: I'm trying to install Debian onto an old SparcStation 20 via CDROM, but the disk doesn't boot.
Nothing is wrong with the SS20, as I've successfully loaded Solaris7 onto it in a fresh install. And when I put the Solaris7 OEM CD into the CDROM and type boot CDROM at the OK> prompt, it spins up the CDROM nicely and everything loads up as expected. Here's what I did for Debian: 1. Downloaded the Sparc version of Debian via jidgo. 2. Burned the downloaded .iso on to a CDRW disk. I did this on a Win2k box using EasyCD creator. Unfortunately, I don't have a burner on my Linux boxes yet. 3. Insert the newly burned Debian disk into the Sparc, and reboot via boot CDROM command. 4. The Sparc starts up, spins the CDROM a little bit, and then just stops, without giving any messages. I'm new to the Sparc world and only be at Linux for about a year and Debian only about a month. I'll never go back now to the Win world, so I'd like to get this going. I'm guessing that I'm missing something in terms of burning the disk. Can it be burned on a Win2k system?
