The bad news that I cannot. I also have modconf and modutils due a dependency to lvm-common, but insmod and modprobe are the module-init-tools version. I have double-checked that. I also suspected that maybe some library is not diverted correctly by module-init-tools. insmod only uses (according to ldd) libc6 and ld-linux.so, both from package libc6, version 2.3.2-8. Yes, depmod is also the module-init-tools version.
