I struggled to get earlier versions of 2.6 going but recently tried a 2.6.5-rc2. I found that X behaved strangely and it seemed to have a bad effect on Evolution which started to crash all the time. More recently I tried a 2.6.5 and things seem better, although X sometimes struggles to re-draw windows after the monitor has gone down to power-saving mode, a desktop switch normally resolves this though. Mouse works fine although it was a little slow (the polar opposite effect of a 2.6 on my laptop where the mouse was stupidly fast!). I still cannot get sound though but my kernel config is a bit of trial and error!
