Hello, I noticed that the new version of a package I maintain (kaffeine [0]) isn't making it into sarge because it won't build on sparc. Digging deeper revealed that it was libxine-dev (source xine-lib) that was holding it back. The last three versions, 1-rc4-1 [1][2], 1-rc4a-1 [3][4], and 1-rc5-1 [5][6] all failed to build on sparc.
rc4 fails oddly, but rc4a and rc5 both fail because of messages like this: /tmp/cccD7qb8.s:522: Error: Illegal operands: There are only 32 f registers; [0-31] My sponsor, Riku Voipio (I've been waiting for an AM since 07-17), said it looked like a binutils bug... don't ask me though :) One thing I'm confused about is why kaffeine isn't listed as waiting for xine-lib on [7]. Maybe I just don't fully understand how the buildd system works. If any of you cares enough about xine (or kaffeine :) to look into the situation and see if there's an easy fix, I'd love it. Please CC me as I'm not on the list.
