Just a note report that Free Pascal 2.2.0 was released a few days ago and that it appears to fix problems in older versions (2.0.4 and 2.1.4) on Linux/SPARC. Granted that there isn't a binary package for it yet, compilation requires the intermediate step of using the distributed 2.0.0 to compile 2.0.4, this can then compile 2.2.0.

Once 2.2.0 is compiled and installed it can be used to build the Lazarus GUI IDE, which is a reasonable clone of Borland's Delphi.
