Power-off the machine completely, and then boot it up again.
This is documented in the sparc release notes, it's a known problem.
I had powered the machine down overnight, after seeing this email I
turned it on and it booted right up. Problem solved, thanks!
Heh, I'd never have thought to look in the system's release notes.
