Hello I saw a similar message at startup after a dist-upgrade. The boot sequence terminates before SILO starts with an MMU error. > If you are willing to test, simply upgrade to the latest sid and > report whether your machine still boots. I did resurrect the machine with an installation CD. I did see that the original /etc/silo.conf had been replaced, though /boot/silo.conf appeared as before the upgrade. Steps I took to rescue were... 1. Boot from installation CD and enter rescue mode. 2. Set language and keyboard. 3. Use previous swap partition and mount previous linux partition. 4. Execute a shell. 5. cp /target/boot/silo.conf /target/etc/silo.conf 6. type "silo --help" 7. Then "silo -r /target -f" # note from memory - caveat user! 8. reboot > Best regards. > -- > Jurij Smakov [email protected] Bob -- "If you propose to speak, always ask yourself, is it true, is it necessary, is it kind?" -- Buddha -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
