Hi Kézia Debian should run on your T3. The lastest Debian release, Jessie, doesn't have sparc support but oldstable, Wheezy, does.
Follow the wheezy installation manual: https://www.debian.org/releases/wheezy/sparc/ You can netboot or install from cd/dvd.
