Hello!

Currently, git fails to build from source on all big-endian architectures due to
a testsuite failure.

Due to the way that Debian Ports works (see [1]), the package is no longer
installable
on all Debian Ports architectures:

root@test-adrian1:~# apt install git
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 git : Depends: git-man (< 1:2.22.0-.) but 1:2.23.0~rc0-1 is to be installed
Recommends: patch but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
root@test-adrian1:~#

Would it be possible to demote git-man from Depends to Recommends in
debian/control
for the git binary package such that an FTBFS on a Debian Ports architecture
doesn't
make the package uninstallable?

Not installing the manpages also makes sense for setups like buildds where git
is
used in an automated environment and no interactive sessions are started which
would justify the availability of the manpages.

Thanks,
Adrian
