Package: openssh-client Version: 1:4.1p1-3 Severity: important Now that openssh has emerged from experimental, it will no longer let me log out:
[fbriere] toroia:~ $ ssh foo.bar Bad owner or permissions on /home/fbriere/.ssh/config I assume this is an attempt to make sure ~/.ssh/config is 0600 or something. That's probably a noble cause, but I have issues with this: * My home dir is 0700, so ~/.ssh/config's mode doesn't matter to me * There's nothing of value to be found in that file anyway (for me) * There's no mention of this behavior in the documentation * No information is provided on what *good* owner or permissions are * It used to work until now The last point is why I've filed this as important; packages should not unexpectedly stop working, even if it's For the User's Own Good[tm]. I'd like to propose this error message being downgraded to a warning. Failing that, there should be a warning announcement in NEWS.Debian about this new behavior. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.11-2 Locale: LANG=en_CA, LC_CTYPE=en_CA (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages openssh-client depends on: ii adduser 3.63 Add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.51 Debian configuration management sy ii dpkg 1.13.9 Package maintenance system for Deb ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libedit2 2.9.cvs.20050518-2 BSD editline and history libraries ii libncurses5 5.4-6 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libssl0.9.7 0.9.7g-1 SSL shared libraries ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4 compression library - runtime openssh-client recommends no packages.
