Package: ssh Version: 1:3.8p1-3 Severity: minor
Hi, When upgrading ssh to ssh-krb5 which Conflicts: ssh, ssh is removed. However, ssh leaves its init scripts behind, which causes a confusion that looks like two SSH servers starting, because both of them have /usr/sbin/sshd, and both init scripts test for its presence to determine whether to execute or not. (true in both cases, so both init scripts run) This could be fixed by purging ssh, but unfortunately this also removes the rest of /etc/ssh/*, which ssh-krb5 won't operate without (and can't prevent the removal of, apparently). Or, the ssh init scripts can be no longer marked as conffiles so that they are removed when the package is removed, but I think this violates policy. How can two binaries with the same name and two init scripts from different packages which test for the same binary and which are marked as conffiles get along? If this is a bug in ssh-krb5, feel free to re-assign it. thanks. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.25 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US Versions of packages ssh depends on: ii adduser 3.56 Add and remove users and groups ii debconf 1.4.25 Debian configuration management sy ii dpkg 1.10.21 Package maintenance system for Deb ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-12 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libpam-modules 0.76-21 Pluggable Authentication Modules f ii libpam-runtime 0.76-21 Runtime support for the PAM librar ii libpam0g 0.76-21 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libssl0.9.7 0.9.7d-3 SSL shared libraries ii libwrap0 7.6.dbs-4 Wietse Venema's TCP wrappers libra ii zlib1g 1:1.2.1.1-3 compression library - runtime
