This has happened to me twice, but I was never quite sure what key stroke combination had triggered it. > This is the > PC speaker beeping, so I can't turn it down or anything. Only solution > is to terminate the X server (logout, Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, whatever). Try "xset -b". Not a real solution, but sometimes better than shutting down X if you need to get work done.
