The DVD-writer included in my notebook (Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D 7830) had a firmware bug. It was able to write DVD+RW but it ruined DVD+R. Fortunately, a new firmware was available, which can now write DVD+R, too. (IIRC this bug was specific for some DVD+R brands.) Anyway, I think it's a good idea if you'd post your computer and/or writer model, because it still could be a problem with the software (or an incompatibility with other hardware).
