Please note that it should be also entirely possible to use APT on the CD #1 only. Just point to the already mounted CD by using a line like this: deb file:/whatever in /etc/apt/sources.list. Of course, this will not work for disks other than #1, and you will be completely unable to install packages from disks #2 or #3, but it is still a possibility if you have just CD #1.
